CANCER (REGISTRATION) REGULATIONS 2010
Regulations under the Cancer (Registration) Act 2009
These Regulations may be cited as the
These Regulations commence on the commencement of the
(1) For the definition of
prescribed details in section 3 of the Act, the following details are prescribed:(a) if prescribed details for a person are required to be given under section 8(2) of the Act:
(i) the person’s identification details; and
(ii) the name and address of the place at which the specimen was taken; and
(iii) the name of the medical practitioner who requested the pathological examination of the specimen; and
(iv) the name and address of the laboratory at which the pathological examination of the specimen took place; and
(v) the pathological examination reference number assigned to the specimen by the laboratory; and
(vi) the date of the cancer diagnosis; and
(vii) the primary site of the cancer; and
(viii) the laterality of the cancer; and
(ix) the morphology of the cancer; and
(x) if a malignant melanoma has been diagnosed – the thickness of the melanoma; and
(xi) if a solid tumour has been diagnosed – the size of the tumour; and
(xii) the stage of the cancer; and
(xiii) the person’s prior history of cancer;
(b) if prescribed details for a patient are required to be given under section 9(2) of the Act:
(i) the patient’s identification details; and
(ii) the name and address of the hospital; and
(iii) the registration number assigned to the patient by the hospital; and
(iv) the name of the medical practitioner at the hospital who was responsible for the patient on the date of diagnosis or, if section 9(1)(b) of the Act applies, on the date the patient died; and
(v) the date of the cancer diagnosis; and
(vi) the most valid basis of the diagnosis; and
(vii) the details mentioned in paragraph (a)(vii) to (xiii) on the date of diagnosis; and
(viii) if section 9(1)(b) of the Act applies – the date the patient died and the cause or causes of death.
(2) In this regulation:
identification details , for a person, means the following information about the person:(a) full name;
(b) former names;
(c) other names by which the person is or was commonly known;
(d) usual residential address;
(e) sex;
(f) date of birth;
(g) country of birth;
(h) whether or not the person identifies or identified as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander origin;
(i) occupation.
