Canberra Public Cemeteries Regulations1 (Amendment)

The Australian Capital Territory Executive makes the following Regulations under the Cemeteries  Act 1933.

Commencement

1.  These Regulations commence on the day on which they are notified in the Gazette.

Principal Regulations

2.  In these Regulations, “Principal Regulations” means the Canberra Public Cemeteries Regulations.

Interpretation

3.  Regulation 2 of the Principal Regulations is amended by omitting the definition of “vault” and substituting the following definition:

“ ‘vault’ means a place of any description for the burial or entombment of a dead body, whether above or below ground, other than a grave.”.

Burials in vaults

4.  Regulation 23 of the Principal Regulations is amended by inserting in subregulation (1) “or entombed” after “buried”.

Number of burials in an allotment

5.  Regulation 24 of the Principal Regulations is amended by adding at the end the following subregulation:

  1. This regulation applies only to a burial in a grave.”.
