Charges for 1. Regulation 5 of the Canberra Community Hospital (Charges) Regula-
in-patients. t j o n s is amended—

(a) by omitting sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the

following sub-regulation:—

" (1.) Subject to regulation 9 of these Regulations, the charge for treatment provided by the Board for an in-patient is at the rate of—

(a) Two pounds four shillings per day in respect of an

in-patient in a general ward;

(b) Three pounds eleven shillings per day in respect of

an in-patient in an intermediate ward; and

(c) Four pounds fifteen shillings per day in respect of

an in-patient in a private ward."; and

(b) by inserting in sub-regulation (2.) , after the word "of", the

words " radiological services or of ".

tions is amended by adding at the end thereof the following sub-
regulations:—

" (4.) The charge for a drug or medicinal preparation, being a drug or medicinal preparation to which Part VII. of the National Health Act 1953-1959 applies, supplied to an out-patient is, subject to the next succeed- ing sub-regulation—

(a) Five shillings; or
(b) if the Commonwealth price of the drug or medicinal preparation

as determined under section 99 of the National Health Act 1953-1959 is less than Five shillings—the amount of the Commonwealth price as so determined.

" (5.) A charge is not payable under the last preceding sub-regulation for a drug or medicinal preparation administered to an out-patient as part of the treatment received by the out-patient at the Hospital.".

3 . Regulation 9 of the Canberra Community Hospital (Charges) Regula- Charges where

(a) by omitting paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (2.) and inserting °r

in its stead the following paragraph:—
" (a) a charge at the rate of—

(i) Three pounds three shillings per day in respect of each day on which the person is an in-patient in a general ward;

(ii) Three pounds eleven shillings per day in respect of each day on which the person is an in-patient in an intermediate ward; and

(iii) Four pounds fifteen shillings per day in respect of each day on which the person is an in-patient in a private ward; "; and

(b) by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulations:—

" (5.) Subject to the next two succeeding sub-regulations,

the charge for the provision of an ambulance vehicle in

respect of a person to whom this regulation applies is—

(a) Two pounds; or
(b) where the distance necessarily travelled by the

ambulance vehicle from its station for that pur- pose and in returning to its station exceeds six miles—Two pounds plus an amount calculated at the rate of Two shillings for each mile neces- sarily travelled by the ambulance in excess of six miles.

" (6.) Where two persons to whom this regulation applies are carried in an ambulance vehicle on any one journey, the charge payable by each of those persons for the provision of the ambulance vehicle is—

(a) One pound ten shillings; or

(b) where the distance necessarily travelled by the ambulance vehicle from its station for that pur- pose and in returning to its station exceeds six miles—One pound ten shillings plus an amount calculated at the rate of One shilling and sixpence for each mile necessarily travelled by the ambulance in excess of six miles.

" (7.) Where three or more persons to whom this regula- tion applies are carried in an ambulance vehicle on any one journey, the charge payable by each of those persons for the provision of the ambulance vehicle is an amount ascertained by dividing—

(a) Four pounds; or
(b) where the distance necessarily travelled by the

ambulance vehicle from its station for that pur- pose and in returning to its station exceeds six miles—Four pounds plus an amount calculated at the rate of Four shillings for each mile neces- sarily travelled by the ambulance in excess of six miles,

by the number of those persons carried in the ambulance.".
4. Regulation 10 of the Canberra Community Hospital (Charges) Regu-

lations is repealed and the following regulations are inserted in its stead:—

regulation9 " (2.) Subject to sub-regulations (5.) , (6.) and (7.) of regulation 9 of these Regulations, the charge for the provision of an ambulance vehicle which is required to travel outside the City Area for the purpose for which it is provided, but not outside the Territory, is Two pounds.
" ( 3 . ) Subject to sub-regulations (5.) , (6.) and (7.) of regulation 9
of these Regulations, the charge for the provision of an ambulance vehicle
which is required to travel outside the Territory for the purpose for which
it is provided is—
(a) Two pounds; or

(b) where the distance necessarily travelled by the ambulance vehicle from its station for that purpose and in returning to its station exceeds twenty miles—an amount calculated at the rate of Two shillings for each mile necessarily travelled by the ambulance.

" (4.) Where, at the request of a person or organization conducting a sporting event or other public function, an ambulance vehicle is made avail- able on any day at the event or function, the charge for making the vehicle available is—

(a) if the period for which the ambulance vehicle is made available on the day does not exceed four hours—an amount of Five pounds five shillings; or

(b) if the period for which the ambulance vehicle is made available on the day exceeds four hours—an amount of Ten pounds ten shillings.".

" (5.) In this regulation, ' the City Area ' has the same meaning as in the City Area Leases Ordinance 1936-1959.

" 1 1 . Where the distance necessarily travelled by an ambulance is a Fractions of»

5.—(1.) The rates of charges prescribed by sub-regulation (1.) of regula- Dates as from

(a) in the case of a person admitted as an in-patient in an obstetric ward—up to and including the thirtieth day of September, 1961; and
(b) in any other case—up to and including the thirty-first day of

January, 1961.

(2.) The rates of charges prescribed by sub-regulation (1.) of regula- tion 5 of the Canberra Community Hospital (Charges) Regulations as amended by these Regulations shall apply—

(a) in the case of a person admitted as an in-patient in an obstetric

ward—on and after the first day of October, 1961; and

(b) in any other case—on and after the first day of February, 1961.

(3.) Regulations 2, 3 and 4 of these Regulations shall come into opera-

tion on the first day of February, 1961.
