BUSINESS FRANCHISE ACT (SUSPENSION OF OPERATION) ACT 1998

An Act to suspend the operation of the Business Franchise Act

1Short title

This Act may be cited as the Business Franchise Act (Suspension of Operation) Act 1998.

2Commencement

This Act commences on the commencement of the Fuel Subsidies Act 1998.

3Suspension of operation of

• (1)

  Subject to subsection (2), the operation of the Business Franchise Act is suspended on the commencement of this Act.

• (2)

  The operation of section 23 of the Business Franchise Act is to be taken to have been suspended on 6 August 1997 in so far as the section prescribes the fee for a licence as the amount calculated on the value of tobacco or petroleum purchased or taken to have been purchased.

• (3)

  For the purposes of this section, the Business Franchise Act and the Business Franchise Regulations are to be taken to have been repealed.
