AN ACT to amend the Bush Fires Act 1954-1979.

[Assented to 4 December 1981.]

RE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Bush Fires MVigttlieon.

Amendment Act 1981.

(2) In this Act the Bush Fires Act 1954-1979 Zagi,teedd2815

June 1978 and

is referred to as the principal Act.	amended by
Act No. 51 of 1979.

(3) The principal Act as amended by this Act

may be cited as the Bush Fires Act 1954-1981.

Section 27

amended. 2. Section 27 of the principal Act is amended

(a) in subsection (1), by deleting paragraph (a) and substituting the following paragraph-

" (a) a tractor or self-propelled

harvester unless-

(i) its exhaust system,

including pipes, is maintained in sound and efficient condition;

(ii)  its exhaust pipe is fitted with a spark arrester as prescribed by regulation; and

(iii)   its exhaust pipe terminates so as to discharge exhaust emissions vertically up- wards or, in the case of a self-propelled harvester the exhaust pipe of which terminates at least 2 metres above the ground, so as to discharge exhaust emissions horizontally or in a direction upwards of the horizontal plane; " ;

(b) in subsection (3), by inserting after "tractor", in both places where it occurs, the following-

" or self-propelled harvester " ;

and

(c) in subsection (5)-

(i)  by inserting after "tractor", in the first and second places where it occurs, the following-

" or self-propelled harvester " ;

and

(ii)   by inserting before "on a trailer" the following-

" , in the case of a tractor, "
