AN ORDINANCE

To amend the Buildings (Design and Siting) Ordinance

1964-1970.

hereby make the following Ordinance under the Seat of Government

(Administration) Act 1910-1972.

BUILDINGS (DESIGN AND SITING) ORDINANCE 1972

1.—(1.) This Ordinance may be cited as the Buildings (Design and Siting) Ordinance 1972.*
(2.) The Buildings (Design and Siting) Ordinance 1964-1970t is in this Ordinance referred to as the Principal Ordinance.
(3.) The Principal Ordinance, as amended by this Ordinance, may
be cited as the Buildings (Design and Siting) Ordinance 1964-1972.

2. This Ordinance shall come into operation on a date to be fixed by the Minister by notice published in the Gazette.

3.  Section 3 of the Principal Ordinance is amended—

(a) by inserting after the definition of " structure " the follow­ ing definition:—

" ' the Building Controller' has the same meaning as in

the Building Ordinance 1972;"; and

(b) by omitting the definition of " the proper authority ".

4. Section 6 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from paragraph (c) of sub-section (1.) the words "section sixteen of the Building Ordinance 1964 " and inserting in their stead the words "section forty-seven of the Building Ordinance 1972".

5.  Section 8 of the Principal Ordinance is amended—

(a)	by omitting the words "proper authority" (wherever occurring) and inserting in their stead the words " Build­ ing Controller ";
(b)	by omitting from paragraphs (a) and (ft) the words "the Canberra Building Regulations" (wherever occurring) and inserting in their stead the words " the Building Ordin­ ance 1972"; and
(c)	by omitting from sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph (b) the words " those regulations" and inserting in their stead the words " that Ordinance ".

6.  Section 9 of the Principal Ordinance is amended—

(a)	by omitting from sub-section (1.) the words "the sub­ mission under the Canberra Building Regulations to the proper authority" and inserting in their stead the words " the making of an application under the Building Ordin­ ance 1972 to the Building Controller for the approval": and
(b)	by omitting from sub-sections (2.) and (3.) the words " proper authority" (wherever occurring) and inserting in their stead the words " Building Controller ".
