Part 1—Preliminary

1—Short title

These regulations may be cited as the Building Work Contractors Variation Regulations 2010.

2—Commencement

These regulations will come into operation on 1 April 2010.

3—Variation provisions

In these regulations, a provision under a heading referring to the variation of specified regulations varies the regulations so specified.

4—Variation of regulation 6—Exemptions

  1. Regulation 6—after subregulation (7) insert:

    (7a)The Act does not apply to the installation, maintenance, repair or removal of a floating floor under a contract entered into after the commencement of this subregulation.

    (7b)The Act does not apply to the installation, maintenance, repair or removal of carpet or of vinyl floor covering in circumstances in which it is not used for water proofing.

  2. Regulation 6(8)—before the definition of minor roof plumbing work insert:

    floating floor means a floor covering comprised of boards designed to be laid over a floor without being fixed to the floor;

As required by section 10AA(2) of the Subordinate Legislation Act 1978, the Minister has certified that, in the Minister's opinion, it is necessary or appropriate that these regulations come into operation as set out in these regulations.
