E it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, B by and with the advice and consent of the Legis­ lative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:— 1. (1.) This Act may be cited as The Building short title. Societies Acts Amendment Act of 1958.” (2.) *“ The Building Societies Acts, 1886 to 1956,” Principal are in this Act referred to as the Principal Act. ot" (3.) The Principal Act and this Act may be Collective collectively cited as The Building Societies Acts , 1886tltle' to 1958.” 2. Section two of the Principal Act is amended by Amendment repealing the definition “Registrar” therein and byofs'2‘ inserting, in lieu of that repealed definition, the following definition:— “ “ Registrar ”—The Registrar of Building Registrar. Societies appointed under this Act, and includes any person for the time being discharging the duties of the office of Registrar; ”. 3. Section three of the Principal Act is amended Amendment by repealing the words “ five guineas ” and by inserting, of s'3' in lieu of those repealed words, the words “ seven guineas ”. 50 V. Section twenty-six of the Principal Act is of s. 26. amended by repealing the word “ three ”, where appearing in provision (2) thereof, and inserting, in lieu of that repealed word, the word “ four New s. 43 b inserted. Appoint­ ment of Registrar, &c. 5. The following section, numbered 43 b , is inserted after section 43 a of the Principal Act:— “ [43 b .] ( 1 .) There shall be a Registrar of Building Societies, and an office of the Registrar. (2.) The Registrar and any other officers required for the purposes of administering this Act shall he appointed and hold office under, subject to and in accordance with *“ The Pvblic Service Acts, 1922 to 1958.” (3.) The Registrar shall have such duties, powers and authorities as are prescribed. (4.) All certificates, rules and documents required to be registered under this Act, or to be lodged with, delivered, forwarded, furnished, or sent to, the Registrar for record shall be kept in the office of the Registrar. (5.) During the absence from duty of the Registrar by reason of illness, leave of absence or other cause, or during any vacancy in the office of the Registrar, the duties, powers and authorities of the Registrar may be exercised by a Deputy Registrar appointed by the Governor in Council (whether generally or in respect of any particular period of absence from duty of, or vacancy in the office of, the Registrar). (3.) The Registrar shall have a seal of office. (7.) The Governor in Council may appoint a barrister-at-law of the Supreme Court of Queensland to he the certifying barrister for the purposes of this Act.” * 13 G. 5 No. 31 and amending Acts.
