AN ORDINANCE

To amend the Building and Services Ordinance

1924-1938.

BE it ordained by the Governor-General in and over the Executive Council, in pursuance of the powers conferred by the Commonwealth of Australia, with the advice of the Federal Seat of Government Acceptance Act 1909-1938 and the Seat of
Government (Administration) Act 1910-1940, as follows:—

1.—(1.) This Ordinance may be cited as the Building and short title and

Services Ordinance 1942.*

(2.) The Building and Services Ordinance 1924-1938 is in

this Ordinance referred to as the Principal Ordinance.

(3.) The Principal Ordinance, as amended by this Ordinance,

may be cited as the Building and Services Ordinance 1924-1942.

2. Section one A of the Principal Ordinance is amended by Definitions,

inserting, before the definition of " Services", the following
definition:—

" ' Advertisement' includes any sign, notice, device or repre- sentation in the nature of an advertisement visible from any public place or public reserve; ".

3. Section four of the Principal Ordinance is amended by Regulations,

inserting, after paragraph (c) of sub-section (1.), the following
paragraphs:—

"(ca) the regulation of the variety and height of hedges grown on or near 'he street frontage of land used for residential or business purposes;

Authorised by the ACT Parliamentary Counsel—also accessible at

(cb) the prohibition, regulation or control of the exhibition of advertisements on any building and the payment of fees in respect of permission to exhibit such advertisements;".
