BREAD ACT 1969 - REGULATION

(Relating to standard weights for loaves of bread)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Bread Act 1969, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

The Bread (Weights) Regulation 1977 is amended:

(a)

by inserting in clause 4 (a) after the matter "450 grams," the matter "680 grams,";

(b)

by omitting clause 4 (b) and by inserting instead the following paragraph:

(b) for loaves of high protein bread - 250 grams; and

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to amend the Bread (Weights) Regulation 1977 so as to permit bread to be sold in loaves weighing 680 grams. At present, bread may (with certain exceptions) be sold only in loaves weighing 450 grams, 900 grams or 1 800 grams.
