AN ACT to amend the Brands Act, 1904-1964.

[Assented to 16th September, 1966.]

RE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent

Majesty, by and with the advice and consent

of the Legislative Council and the Legislative

Assembly of Western Australia, in this present

Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the

same, as follows:-

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Brands Act Short title

and citation

Section eleven of the principal Act is amended

by adding after subsection (3), the following

subsection

(4) Every woolbrand shall be not less in overall measurements than seven inches in length and three inches in width, and each letter or numeral, whether upright or horizontal, of every woolbrand shall be not less than three inches in height or length, as the case may be, and be spaced not less than three-quarters of an inch from any adjacent letter or numeral. .

Section sixteen of the principal Act is amended by substituting for the words, "one shilling" in lines five and six of subsection (2), the words, "ten cents".

Section seventeen of the principal Act is

amended by substituting for the words, "ten

shillings" in line three, the words, "one dollar".

Section twenty-one of the principal Act is amended by substituting for the words, "two shillings and six pence" in lines two and three of subsection (2), the passage, "twenty-five cents".

Section twenty-four of the principal Act is amended by substituting for the words, "five shillings" in line six of subsection (1), the words, "fifty cents".

Section twenty-five of the principal Act is amended by substituting for the words, "five shillings" in lines two and three of paragraph (a) of subsection (1), the words, "fifty cents".

Section twenty-nine of the principal Act is

amended by repealing subsection (1) and re-enact-

ing it with amendments as follows

(1) Forthwith after every shearing of sheep the owner shall place his woolbrand on the sheep in the prescribed manner; but this section does not apply to stud sheep registered in any recognised stud or flock book.

Section forty-five of the principal Act is

amended.

amended by repealing subsection (2) and re-enact-

ing it with amendments as follows

(2) All sheep upon which the registered woolbrand is not kept visible and legible shall be deemed not to be branded with that woolbrand; but this subsection does not apply to unshorn lambs. .

10. Section forty-six of the principal Act is amended by substituting for the proviso to subsec- tion (1), the passage, "but this subsection does not apply to unshorn lambs." .

11. Section forty-seven of the principal Act is

by substituting for the words, "Provided that this section shall not apply in any case where the sheep are under the age of six months" in lines five, six and seven of subsection (1), the words, "but this subsec- tion does not apply where the sheep are unshorn lambs"; and

(b)

by substituting for the words, "but this section" in lines four and five of subsection (2), the passage, ": but this subsection".

12. Section fifty-seven of the principal Act is T2

amended by substituting for the words, "fifty pounds" in line three, the words, "one hundred dollars".
