BOXING CONTROL

ENDMENT ACT

No. 29 of 1990

AN ACT to amend the Boxing Control Act 1987.

[Assented to 5 October 1990.]

The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:

Short title

1.    This Act may be cited as the Boxing Control Amendment Act

1990.

Commencement

2.    (1) Subject to subsection (2), this Act shall come into operation on

the day that the principal Act comes into operation.

(2) Section 4 shall come into operation on a day to be fixed by

proclamation.

Principal Act

3. In this Act the Boxing Control Act 1987* is referred to as the

principal Act.

Section 4 amended

4. Section 4 of the principal Act is amended (a) in subsection (2)-

(i)     by deleting "5" and substituting the following- " 6 ";

(ii)    by deleting "4" in paragraph (a) and substituting the

following

4, 5 ”;

(iii) by deleting "and" after subparagraph (iii);

(iv)  by inserting after subparagraph (iv) the following subparagraph-

" (v) one person shall be a person who in the opin- ion of the Minister represents persons who are or have been registered boxers; and "; and

(v)    in paragraph (b), by deleting "Permanent Head of the Department" and substituting the following

{C the chief executive officer of the Department or an

officer of the Department nominated by the chief

executive officer ";

and

(b) in subsection (3) by inserting after "(a) (ii)" the following-

" or (b) ".

Section 29 amended

5. Section 29 of the principal Act is amended by deleting "organizaton"

and substituting the following

" organization ".

Section 45 amended

6. Section 45 of the principal Act is amended in subsection (1)-

(a)

in paragraph (a) by deleting "licensed" and substituting the following-

" registered "; and

(b)

by deleting paragraph (b) and substituting the following—

(b) that the requirements under this Act as they apply in relation to the boxing contest referred to in the application will be complied with,

the Commission may issue a permit in respect of the boxing

contest. ".

Section 60 amended

7. Section 60 of the principal Act is amended

(a)

by deleting "without the seal of the Commission"; and

(b)

by deleting "Permanent Head." and substituting the following—

CC chief executive officer of the Department or an officer of the

Department nominated by the chief executive officer. ".
