Bookmakers Betting Levy Amendment Act 2009

An Act to amend the Bookmakers Betting Levy Act 1954 and for related purposes.

The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:

Bookmakers Betting Levy Amendment Act 2009

s. 1

1.             Short title

This is the Bookmakers Betting Levy Amendment Act 2009.

2.             Commencement

This Act comes into operation as follows —

(a)	sections 1 and 2 — on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent;
(b)	section 5 — on the day after that day;
(c)	the rest of the Act is deemed to have come into operation on 1 September 2008.

3.             Act amended

This Act amends the Bookmakers Betting Levy Act 1954.

4.             Section 2 amended

Delete section 2(1)(b) and insert:

(b) in respect of a bookmaker’s turnover from betting on a designated sporting event approved under the Betting Control Act 1954 section 4A, the rate of 2%.

5.             Section 2 amended

Delete section 2(1)(b) and insert:

(b) in respect of a bookmaker’s turnover from betting on a designated sporting event approved under the Betting Control Act 1954 section 4A, the rate of 1.5%.
