Bolton v The King

Case

BOLTON

v

THE KING

[2024] HCASL 222
S47/2024

  1. The applicant seeks an extension of time to apply for special leave to appeal from the whole of the judgment of the Court of Criminal Appeal of New South Wales (Harrison, Wilson and N Adams JJ) given on 28 August 2023 dismissing his appeal against conviction on seven counts of sexual offending against his nephew, on the ground that the jury verdict was unreasonable.

  2. This application does not give rise to any question of general importance to the consideration of an unreasonable verdict ground. In any event, none of the applicant’s proposed grounds enjoy sufficient prospects of success to warrant a grant of special leave to appeal. Accordingly, it would be futile to grant an extension of time.

  3. Special leave to appeal is refused.
