Blood and Tissue (Transmissible Diseases)
Amendment Regulations (No. 2) 2016
Made by the Governor in Executive Council.
1. Citation
These regulations are the Blood and Tissue (Transmissible
Diseases) Amendment Regulations (No. 2) 2016.2. Commencement
These regulations come into operation as follows —
(a) regulations 1 and 2 — on the day on which these regulations are published in the Gazette; (b) the rest of the regulations — on 11 September 2016. 3. Regulations amended
These regulations amend the Blood and Tissue (Transmissible
Diseases) Regulations 1985.4. Schedule 1 amended
In Schedule 1:
(a) delete “those people who receive it.” and insert: those who receive it.
(b) delete “or blood products”; (c) delete the passage that begins with “Donations of blood are tested” and ends with “you will be informed.” and
insert:
Donations of blood are tested for hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV (AIDS virus). Donations are also tested for HTLV (human T-lymphotropic virus) and syphilis, unless the donation is allocated solely to making externally manufactured plasma products. If your blood tests positive for any of these conditions, or shows a significantly abnormal result, we will notify you.
(d) delete “In the last 6 months have you:” and insert: In the last 4 months have you:
