Her Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1995.

Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to increase certain fees set out in the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Regulation 2011 that are chargeable with respect to matters arising under the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1995.
The fee increases are generally in line with movements in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) (about 2.8 per cent). The fee for registering a change of name or inserting an additional name or other particulars in a record of a name has been increased by a greater amount (about 9.3 per cent) to reflect the increased costs incurred due to the change of name restrictions recently imposed under the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Amendment (Change of Name) Act 2012 which commenced on 10 April 2012.
This Regulation is made under the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1995, including sections 50 (2), 54 and 62 (the general regulation-making power).

1 Name of Regulation
This Regulation is the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration
Amendment (Fees) Regulation 2012.
2 Commencement
This Regulation commences on 20 July 2012 and is required to be published on the NSW legislation website.

was located in the Register about a relevant registrable event,
including the fee for search under any one name in respect
of a period not exceeding 10 years2 Furnishing a certificate as to a record in the Register where 31.00 the applicant has provided the relevant number of the record
from an index published by the Registry of Births, Deaths
and Marriages3 Search against any one name in the Register (including an 40.00 index to the Register) in respect of a period not exceeding 10 years pursuant to an application under section 50 of the Act, including the fee for a certificate of result of any such search
4 Continuation of any search under any one name in respect 40.00 of each period of 10 years, or part of such a period 5 Giving priority to a search or to the issue of a certificate of 23.00 result of search in addition to any other fee 6 Registering a change of name or inserting an additional 118.00 name or other particulars in a record of a name 7 Altering the record of a person’s sex in the registration of 65.00 the person’s birth 8 Recording in the Register, subsequent to registration of the 65.00 birth of a child, the name of (or other particulars relating to)
