AN ACT to amend the Beekeepers Act 1963.

[Assented to 29 November 1984.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent

of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Beekeepers VilcirgiTeTpat

Act.

2.

This Act shall come into operation on the day

that it is assented to by the Governor.

Section 4

amended.

3.

Section 4 of the principal Act is amended

(a)

by deleting the full-stop after the definition of "Senior Apiculturist" and substituting a semicolon; and

(b)

by inserting after the definition of "Senior Apiculturist" the following definition-

'' "the Committee" means the Bee-

keepers' Compensation Fund Com- mittee constituted under the Bee Industry Compensation Act 1953. ".

Section 8

amended.

4. Section 8 of the principal Act is amended

(a)

in subsection (2), by deleting ", 1982, and on or before the thirty-first day of December in every second year thereafter," and sub- stituting the following-

" of each year ";

(b)

by inserting after subsection (2) the follow- ing subsection

'C

(2a) Registration of a person as a beekeeper is effective until 31 December of the year in which registration is effected pursuant to this section. ";

in subsection (4), by deleting "The" and

(c)

substituting the following-

" Subject to subsection (5), the "; and

(d)

by inserting after subsection (4) the follow- ing subsection

(5) The Director shall not issue a

certificate of registration pursuant to subsection (4) unless prior to or at the time of the issue of the certificate of registration under this section there is paid to the Committee the appropriate licence fee under section 10 of the Bee Industry Compensation Act 1953 as applies in relation to the colony or colonies of bees being licensed. ".

Transitional.

5. Notwithstanding anything in the principal

Act, a certificate of registration of a person as a beekeeper under the principal Act in force under the principal Act before the day that this Act comes into operation continues to be effective until 31 December
