AN ACT to amend the Bee Industry Compensation

Act, 1953.

[Assented to 26th October, 1957.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Compensation Act Amendment Act, 1957.	1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Bee Industry Mira.
(2) In this Act the Bee Industry Compensation

Act, 1953,

Act No. 54 of 1953,

is referred to as the principal Act.

(3) The principal Act as -amended by this Act may be cited as the Bee Industry Compensation Act, 1953-1957.

amended.	2. Section twelve of the principal Act is amended by adding after the word, "destroyed" in line five, the passage, ", or whose beecombs, hives, beekeepers' appliances, or other infected articles, are dis- infected,".

.amended. 3. Section thirteen of the principal Act is

amended

(a) by adding after subsection (1) the following subsection:—

( la) Subject to the provisions of this Act, the amount of compensation payable to a beekeeper in respect of expense incurred by him in disinfecting beecombs, hives, beekeepers' appliances, or other infected articles, pursuant to direction issued under section ten of the Bees Act, 1930, shall not in any event exceed which- ever is the lesser of two-thirds of that expense or two-thirds of the value of the property at the time it is disinfected. ; and

(b) by adding after the word, "destroyed" being the last word in paragraph (a) of subsection (2), the passage, ", whether the direction is or is not subject to a provision exempting the beekeeper from the necessity of destroy- ing the property if it is disinfected as directed; but if any item of the inventory is the subject of such an exemption, the officer shall distinctly indicate the item in the inventory".

S. 14	4. Section fourteen of the principal Act is
emended.

(a) by adding before the words, "of section thirteen" in line four, the passage, "or of subsection (la) ";

(b)	by adding after the word, "destruction" in line four of paragraph (a), the passage, "or, as the case may be, disinfection,"; and
(c)	by substituting for the letters, "poperty" in line five of paragraph (a), the word, "property".

5. The principal Act is amended by deleting from 2.91,11'1)(2)

the citation of	amended.
