MR G.O’L REYNOLDS, SC: If it please the Court, in this matter I appear for the applicant with my learned friend, MS K.T. NOMCHONG. (instructed by Turner Freeman Lawyers)
MR P.J. SAIDI: May it please the Court, I appear on behalf of the respondent, with MR A.N. WILLIAMS. My learned leader, unfortunately, was not able to attend today. (instructed by Crown Solicitor (NSW))
GUMMOW J: Yes. At the moment, Mr Saidi, we are minded to refer this application for hearing into the Full Court, raising, as it does, the present status of the earlier decisions of the Court. What do you have to say in opposition to that course?
MR SAIDI: Your Honour, I would not oppose it.
GUMMOW J: There we are, Mr Reynolds.
HAYNE J: Another good day’s work, Mr Reynolds.
GUMMOW J: Again, the appellant’s submissions should be filed and served by 26 October, the respondent’s by 16 November and any reply by 30 November and, as indicated, the application will be referred into the Full Court for the parties to be ready for hearing as on an appeal, hence these directions I have just given. This will be a one‑day case, will it not, gentlemen? All right. Is there anything else?
MR REYNOLDS: I do not think so.
AT 10.24 AM THE MATTER WAS CONCLUDED
