By-laws under the Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education Act 1999

1Citation

These By-laws may be cited as the Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education (Rules) By-laws 2000.

2Making and signing of rules
  • (1)

    The Council may make rules by resolution at a meeting.

  • (2)

    The Director must sign all rules made by the Council before they are published.

3Publication of rules
  • (1)

    Rules are published by:

    • (a)

      posting on the prescribed notice boards a notice of the making of the rules; and

    • (b)

      posting in electronic form on the electronic Bulletin Board of the Institute a notice of the making of the rules.

  • (2)

    A notice for the purposes of subclause (1) is to specify the place or places from where copies of the rules may be obtained.

  • (3)

    A notice of the making of rules is to remain posted in accordance with subclause (1) for a period of at least 4 consecutive weeks, but a failure to comply strictly with this provision does not invalidate the rules.

  • (4)

    Rules do not come into operation until published in accordance with subclause (1).

4Prescribed notice boards

For the purposes of clause 4, the following are prescribed notice boards:

  • (a)

    Batchelor Campus:

    • (i)

      staff notice board in the Staff Room;

    • (ii)

      student notice board in the office of the Student Representative Council;

    • (iii)

      student notice board in the office of the Residential Manager;

  • (b)

    Alice Springs Campus:

    • (i)

      staff notice board in Administration area;

    • (ii)

      notice board at student residences;

  • (c)

    Darwin Annexe – official notice board;

  • (d)

    East Arnhem Annexe – official notice board;

  • (e)

    Katherine Annexe – official notice board;

  • (f)

    Tennant Creek Annexe – official notice board.
