Banking (Savings Banks) Regulations2

(Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Banking Act 1959.

Principal Regulations

1. In these Regulations, “Principal Regulations” means the Banking (Savings Bank) Regulations.

Investment of funds of savings banks

2. Regulation 5 of the Principal Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting paragraph (2) (f) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(f) bills of exchange (other than cheques) drawn by, promissory notes issued by, and debentures, stock and bonds issued or guaranteed by, an authority (not being a prescribed bank) of the Commonwealth or of a State or Territory;”; and

(b) by omitting sub-regulation (2a).

Schedule

3. (1) The Schedule to the Principal Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting “A.M.P. Discount Corporation Limited”; and

(b) by inserting in its proper alphabetical position in that Schedule “PP Discount Limited”.

(2) Sub-regulation (1) shall be deemed to have come into operation on 30 July 1985.

(3) The Schedule to the Principal Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting “AUC Discount Limited”; and

(b) by inserting in its proper alphabetical position in that Schedule “Holst Discount Limited”.

(4) Sub-regulation (3) shall be deemed to have come into operation on 16 July 1985.

(5) The Schedule to the Principal Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting “Capel Court Securities Limited”; and

(b) by inserting in its proper alphabetical position in that Schedule “GIO Securities Limited”.

(6) Sub-regulation (5) shall be deemed to have come into operation on 9 October 1985.

(7) The Schedule to the Principal Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting “Delfin Discount Company Limited”; and

(b) by inserting in its proper alphabetical position in that Schedule “Colonial Mutual Discount Company Limited”.

(8) Sub-regulation (7) shall be deemed to have come into operation on 27 August 1984.

(9) The Schedule to the Principal Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting “National Discount Corporation Limited”; and

(b) by inserting in its proper alphabetical position in that Schedule “NDC Securities Limited”.

(10) Sub-regulation (9) shall be deemed to have come into operation on 2 December 1985.
