Banking (Foreign Exchange) Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Banking Act 1959.

Control of purchase

1. Regulation 5 of the Banking (Foreign Exchange) Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (5) “by the Bank or by an agent of the Bank” and substituting “in accordance with these Regulations”.

2. Regulation 40 of the Banking (Foreign Exchange) Regulations is amended by omitting paragraphs (b) and (c) and substituting the following paragraphs:

“(a) to any Commonwealth officer;

(b) to any officer of the Bank or of an agent of the Bank;

(c) to any person who is authorized, by a general authority issued under regulation 38A, to engage in foreign currency transactions or to any director, officer, employee or agent of such a person; or”.
