AN ACT to amend the Bank Holidays Act, 1884-1953.
[Assented to 20th October, 1961.]
BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
Short title
| 1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Bank | and citation. |
Holidays Act Amendment Act, 1961.
(2) In this Act the Bank Holidays Act, 1884-1953,
is referred to as the principal Act.
(3) The principal Act as amended by this Act
may be cited as the Bank Holidays Act, 1884-1961.

| (a) | by adding after section one a section as follows:— |

| Saturday | 1A. (1) The Governor may, by pro- |

| holiday. | clamation, declare that as from a day specified in the proclamation, Saturday |
| (a) | shall be a bank holiday; and |
| (b) | shall be kept as a close holiday in and by all banks in the State. |
(2) A proclamation shall not be made pursuant to subsection (1) of this section, until the Governor is satisfied that arrangements which will operate gener- ally throughout the State have been made and will be carried out for keeping all banks in the State open for business until five o'clock in the afternoon of every Friday that is not a bank holiday.
(3) If, after a proclamation has been made pursuant to subsection (1) of this section, the Governor is satisfied that the arrangements referred to in subsection (2) of this section have ceased to operate the Governor may, by proclamation, declare that as from a day specified in the proclamation Saturday shall cease to be a bank holiday.
(4)
This section does not apply to any agency of a savings bank. ; and

"Coronation Day," and "The Prince of
Wales' Birthday,".
