AN ACT to amend The Bank Holidays Act,

1884-1948.

[Assented to 7th December, 1953.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-

Short title

and citation.

1. (1) This Act may be cited as The Bank Holidays

Act Amendment Act, 1953.

(2) In this Act The Bank Holidays Act, 1884, Act No. 48 Victorim No. 9 as amended by Acts 52 Victorim No. 3, 63 Victorim No. 40, No. 26 of 1921 and No. 44 of 1948

is referred to as the principal Act.

(3) The principal Act as amended by this Act

may be cited as the Bank Holidays Act, 1884-1953.

2. Section five of the principal Act is amended amended,

by

(a)

adding after the section designation, "5", the figure one in brackets thus—(1);

(b) adding the following subsection:

(2) Where a proclamation is made pursuant to the provisions of subsection (1) of this section, if the Governor thinks fit he may from time to time vary or cancel it by subsequent proclamation published in the Gazette at least one week before the day appointed a special day to be observed as a Bank Holiday in the former proclamation.
