47 01tu ANNO VICESIMO ELIZABETHAE SECUNDAE REGINAE No. 4 of 1971 An Act to Amend The Badge, Arms and Floral Emblem of Queensland Act of 1959 in certain particulars [ASSENTED To 14 TH APRIL, 1971] BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. Short title and citation . (1) This Act may be cited as the Badge, Arms and Floral Emblem of Queensland Act Amendment Act 1971. (2) The Badge, Arms and Floral Emblem of Queensland Act of 1959 is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act. (3) The Principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Badge, Arms, Floral and other Emblems of Queensland Act1959-1971.
48 Badge, Arms and Floral Emblem, Etc ., Act Amdt Act 1971, No. 4 2. Amendment of long title. The long title of the Principal Act is amended by omitting the words " and Floral Emblem " and inserting in their stead the words ", Floral and other Emblems ". 3. New s. 2A. The Principal Act is amended by inserting after section 2 the following section:- " 2A. Faunal Emblem . The Koala (Phascolarctos cinereus) shall be the Faunal Emblem of the State of Queensland.". 4. New s. 2B. The Principal Act is amended by inserting after section 2A as inserted by this Act the following section:- " 2B. Notification of other emblems. The Premier and Minister for State Development- (a) may from time to time notify in the Gazette any other thing, animate or inanimate, to be the emblem of the © State of Queensland- (i) in respect of a category or matter or an aspect of Queensland life or activity; or (ii) for a purpose or of a type or classification specified in the notification; and (b) may by a further notification in the Gazette revoke or vary a prior such notification, and that thing, subject to any revocation or variation as aforesaid, shall thereupon be such emblem.". 5. Amendment of s. 3. Section 3 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting the words " Chief Secretary " and inserting in their stead the words " Minister for State Development ". 6. Amendment of s. 4 . Section 4 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) in subsection (1), omitting the words " fifty pounds " and inserting in their stead the expression " $100 "; (b) in subsection (3), omitting the words " Chief Secretary " and inserting in their stead the words " Minister for State Development ".

Section 5 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) omitting the words " Chief Secretary " and inserting in their stead the words " Minister for State Development "; '(b) omitting the words " ten pounds " and inserting in their stead the expression " $20 ".
