Arrangement for conduct of election.

[1]        On 22 July 2016, the Bacon Factories' Union of Employees, Queensland (BFUEQ)

lodged with the Fair Work Commission (FWC) prescribed information in relation to an

election.

[2]        On 8 August 2016, the FWC contacted the BFUEQ to seek further information about

the prescribed information, and specifically, whether the Treasurer was an office or a non-

office position.

[3]        On 11 August 2016, the BFUEQ confirmed in writing that the Treasurer is a position

and not an office.

[4]        On 23 August 2016, the BFUEQ lodged with the FWC amended prescribed

information, under sections 187 and 189 of the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act

2009, in relation to an election for the following offices and a non-office position:

General President	(1)
General Secretary	(1)
State Councillor - Warwick Workplace Group	(1)
State Councillor - Kingaroy Workplace Group	(1)
State Councillor - Hans Workplace Group	(1)
Treasurer	(1)

[5]        This election will be the first since the organisation registered under the Fair Work

(Registered Organisations) Act 2009. Rule 41 of the organisation’s rules provides for these

offices and non-office position to be elected for a term of three (3) years. The supporting

information provided by the organisation confirms that the previous election was conducted in

2013 by the Electoral Commission Queensland (RIO 2013/53).

[6]        I am satisfied that an election for the abovenamed offices and non-office position is

required to be held under the rules of the organisation and, under subsection 189(3) of the
[2016] FWCD 5281

Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009, I am making arrangements for the conduct of

the election by the Australian Electoral Commission.
