Act to enact a transitional provision and effect certain repeals in consequence
of the enactment of the Australian
Tourist Commission Act 1987
[Assented to 18 December 1987]
BE IT ENACTED by the Queen, and the
Senate and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as
follows:
Short
title
1. This Act may be cited
as the Australian Tourist Commission
(Transitional Provisions) Act 1987.
Commencement
2. This Act shall come
into operation on the day fixed under section 2 of the Australian Tourist Commission Act 1987.
Managing
Director
3. (1) The person who, immediately before the commencement of this
Act, held office as Managing Director of the Australian Tourist Commission (in
this section called “the existing Managing Director”) continues to hold that
office after that commencement as if he had been appointed under the Australian Tourist Commission Act 1987.
(2) Division 1 of Part V
(other than paragraph 33 (1) (b)) of the Australian
Tourist Commission Act 1987 applies in relation to the existing Managing
Director.
(3) Subject to subsection
(2), the existing Managing Director holds office in accordance with the terms
and conditions of employment that were, immediately before the commencement of
this Act, determined under subsection 18 (5) of the Australian Tourist Commission Act 1967.
