Arrangement for conduct of election.

[1] On 1 September 2014 the Tasmanian Branch (the Tasmanian Branch) of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (the ANMF) lodged with the Fair Work Commission (the Commission) the prescribed information in relation to an election for the following offices:

Branch Vice President	(1)
Branch Executive Member	(4)
Branch Councillor	(14)

[2] On 1 September 2014, the Tasmanian Branch of the ANMF requested an extension of time to lodge prescribed information which, in accordance with s. 189(2) of the Fair Work

(Registered Organisations) Act 2009 (the Act) was due to be lodged by 1 July 2014. The

Tasmanian Branch of the ANMF stated in the application that the reason for the delay was ‘due to a misunderstanding by the Business Manager of the requirements of the Act and its regulations’.

[3] I have considered the reasons provided by the Tasmanian Branch of the ANMF and

have decided to extend the time for lodgement of the prescribed information until 1
September 2014 pursuant to subsection 189(2) of the Act.

[4] On 9 September 2014, the Commission wrote to the Tasmanian Branch of the ANMF

seeking confirmation of the number of offices to be elected for the office of Branch
Councillor, pursuant to rule 65.2.3 of the rules of the ANMF.

[5] On 19 September 2014, the Tasmanian Branch of the ANMF provided a copy of an

endorsed resolution which determined that the number of offices of Branch Councillor would
be fourteen (14).

[6] I am satisfied that an election for the abovenamed offices is required to be held under the rules of the organisation and, under subsection 189(3) of the Fair Work (Registered

Organisations) Act 2009, I am making arrangements for the conduct of the election by the

Australian Electoral Commission.
