ba )is qualified for appointment, in accordance with Division 3 of Part VII., as an officer of the Active Forces in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps;(
bb )is qualified for appointment, in accordance with Division 4 of Part VIL, as an officer of the Active Forces in the Royal Australian Army Dental Corps; or “.
“(ii) if the soldier is a male soldier of the Citizen Forces who is a bandmaster, drum-major or bandsman—fifty-five years;
(iii) if the soldier is a male soldier of the Citizen Forces other than a bandmaster, drum-major or bandsman—forty-eight years; or
(iv) if the soldier is a female soldier of the Permanent Forces or the Citizen Forces—fifty years.”.
“544. The Royal Australian Army Medical Corps shall consist of officers and soldiers who—
(
a ) are appointed to, or enlisted in, that Corps; or(
b )are transferred to, or seconded for duty with, that Corps from other parts of the Military Forces.
“545. The Royal Australian Army Medical Corps is a prescribed corps for the purposes of section 11a of the Act.
“546.—(1.) Subject to this Division, a person shall not be appointed as an officer in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps unless he is qualified for appointment as an officer of the Active Forces or the Regular Army Special Reserve in that corps in accordance with this Division.
“(2.) A person who is qualified for appointment in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps only as an officer of the Regular Army Special Reserve shall not be appointed in that Corps other than as an officer of the Regular Army Special Reserve.
“(3.) Subject to this Division, an officer shall not be transferred to, or seconded for duty with, the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps unless he is qualified for appointment as an officer of the Active Forces in that Corps in accordance with this Division.
“547.—(1.) A person is qualified for appointment as an officer of the Active Forces in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps if he is registered or licensed, or qualified to be registered or licensed, under a law of a State or Territory that provides for the registration or licensing of medical practitioners.
“(2.) Where a person who—
(
a ) was appointed as an officer of the Australian Regular Army in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps to the substantive rank of captain; and(
b )had, on appointment, the qualifications specified in sub-regulation (1.) of this regulation,
qualifies for promotion to the substantive rank of major, he may, notwithstanding regulation 85 of these Regulations, be promoted to the substantive rank of major after four years’ service in the rank of captain.
“548.—(1.) Subject to such conditions as arc approved by the Military Board, a person is qualified for appointment as an officer of the Regular Army Special Reserve in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps if he is the holder of, or qualified for admission to, a degree in medicine of, or is an undergraduate in the faculty of medicine at, a university in a State or Territory.
“(2.) Notwithstanding regulation 85 of these Regulations, the promotion of a person who—
(
a ) is appointed as an officer of the Regular Army Special Reserve in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps; and(
b )has, on appointment, the qualifications specified in sub-regulation (1.) of this regulation,
is subject to such conditions as are approved by the Military Board.
“549. A person is qualified for appointment as an officer of the Active Forces in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps if he is registered as a pharmaceutical chemist under a law of a State or Territory that provides for the registration of pharmaceutical chemists.
“550. Notwithstanding regulation 546 of these Regulation, a person who is not qualified for appointment as an officer of the Active Forces or the Regular Army Special Reserve in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps in accordance with this Division but whose services are required to fill a vacancy on the authorized establishment of—
(
a ) a medical unit of the Military Forces;(
b )a unit of the Military Forces raised to assist in maintaining the health of members of the Military Forces; or(
c )the medical services at a headquarters of the Military Forces,
may be appointed as an officer in, or, being an officer, may be transferred to, or seconded for duty with, the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps.
“551. Officers of the Active Forces or the Regular Army Special Reserve in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps may be allotted for duty with units and staffs of the Military Forces.
“552. The syllabus and scope of the examinations for appointment and promotion in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps shall be as approved by the Military Board.
“553. A member of the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps is not entitled to exercise any military command outside that Corps except over members who—
(
a ) are attached to that Corps for duty;(
b )are detailed for duty under his orders;(
c ) are specially placed under his command;(
d )arc patients in a military hospital or other military medical establishment; or(
e ) are under his professional care.
“554.—(1.) A person who—
(
a )is qualified under sub-regulation (2.) of regulation 120 of these Regulations to be appointed to commissioned rank in the Reserve of Officers by reason that he is qualified for appointment, in accordance with this Division, as an officer of the Active Forces in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps; and(
b ) is competent to perform the duties of an appointment in that Corps specified in column 1 of the table in this sub-regulation,
may be appointed as an officer of the Reserve of Officers in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps, and may be granted the honorary rank specified in column 2 of that table opposite to that appointment.

“(2.) Officers of the Reserve of Officers in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps may be employed from time to time on such medical duties as the Military Board approves.
“
“555. The Royal Australian Army Dental Corps shall consist of officers and soldiers who—
(
a ) are appointed to, or enlisted in, that Corps; or(
b ) are transferred to, or seconded for duty with, that Corps from other parts of the Military Forces.
“556. The Royal Australian Army Dental Corps is a prescribed corps for the purposes of section 11a of the Act.
“557. Subject to this Division, a person shall not be appointed as an officer in, or, being an officer, shall not be transferred to, or seconded for duty with, the Royal Australian Army Dental Corps unless he is qualified for appointment as an officer of the Active Forces in that Corps in accordance with this Division.
“558.—(1.) A person is qualified for appointment as an officer of the Active Forces in the Royal Australian Army Dental Corps if he is registered, or qualified to be registered, under a law of a State or Territory that provides for the registration of dentists.
“(2.) Where a person who—
(a) was appointed as an officer of the Australian Regular Army in the Royal Australian Army Dental Corps to the substantive rank of captain; and
(b) had, on appointment, the qualifications specified in sub-regulation (1.) of this regulation,
qualifies for promotion to the substantive rank of major, he may, notwithstanding regulation 85 of these Regulations, be promoted to the substantive rank of major after four years’ service in the rank of captain.
“559. Notwithstanding regulation 557 of these Regulations, a person who is not qualified for appointment as an officer of the Active Forces in the Royal Australian Army Dental Corps in accordance with this Division but whose services are required to fill a vacancy on the authorized establishment of—
(
a ) a dental unit of the Military Forces; or(
b ) the dental services of a head-quarters of the Military Forces,
may be appointed as an officer in, or, being an officer, may be transferred to, or seconded for duty with, the Royal Australian Army Dental Corps.
“560. Officers of the Active Forces in the Royal Australian Army Dental Corps may be allotted for duty with units and staffs of the Military Forces.
“561. The syllabus and scope of the examinations for appointment and promotion in the Royal Australian Army Dental Corps shall be as approved by the Military Board.
“562. A member of the Royal Australian Army Dental Corps is not entitled to exercise any military command outside that Corps except over members who—
(
a ) are attached to that Corps for duty;(
b ) are detailed for duty under his orders;(
c ) are specially placed· under his command;(
d ) are patients at an Army dental post.
“563.—(1.) A person who—
(
a ) is qualified under sub-regulation (2.) of regulation 120 of these Regulations to be appointed to commissioned rank in the Reserve of Officers by reason that he is qualified to be appointed, in accordance with this Division, as an officer of the Active Forces in the Royal Australian Army Dental Corps; and(
b )is competent to perform the duties of an appointment in that Corps specified in column 1 of the table in this sub-regulation,
may be appointed as an officer of the Reserve of Officers in the Royal Australian Army Dental Corps, and may be granted the honorary rank specified in column 2 of that table opposite to that appointment.

“(2.) Officers of the Reserve of Officers in the Royal Australian Army Dental Corps may be employed from time to time on such dental duties as the Military Board approves.”.
“(3.) The Senior Jewish Chaplain may be appointed a chaplain, 1st class.”.
“609c. The Australian Army Psychology Corps is a prescribed corps for the purposes of section 11a of the Act.
“609d. An officer of the Australian Regular Army in the Australian Army Psychology Corps who has not completed four years’ service in the substantive rank of lieutenant but who—
