REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903.

Amendments of the Australian Military Regulations 

Recreation leave.

1. Regulation 465 of the Australian Military Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting sub-regulations (2) and (3) and substituting the following sub-regulation:—

“ (2) For the purposes of sub-regulation (1), the prescribed number of days applicable to a member is, in respect of each year of continuous full time military service that he renders, 20 days, exclusive of Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.”;

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (4) the words “, after the year that ended on 30 June 1972,”;

(c) by omitting from sub-regulation (4) the word “ Sundays ” and substituting the words “ Saturdays, Sundays ”; and

(d) by omitting from sub-regulation (4) the words “ whichever of the prescribed number of days that would by virtue of sub-regulation (2) or (3) be the prescribed number of days ”, and substituting the words “ the prescribed number of days that would have been ”.

Sickness on Recreation Leave.

2. Regulation 465a of the Australian Military Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from paragraph (b) the word “ day ” and substituting the words “ day, other than a Saturday, Sunday or holiday ”; and

(b) by omitting the word “ unfit ” (last occurring) and substituting the words “ so unfit ”.

Extended leave.

3. Regulation 468 of the Australian Military Regulations is amended by omitting all words after the words “ member as if the ” and substituting the words “ reference in sub-regulation 465 (2) to 20 days were read as a reference to 25 days ”.

4. Regulation 469 of the Australian Military Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1) all words after the word “ aggregate, ” and substituting the words “ 10 days, exclusive of Saturdays, Sundays and holidays ”.

5. Regulation 475 of the Australian Military Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (2) the words “ of this regulation ”.

Attendance of a member on a holiday.

6. Regulation 476 of the Australian Military Regulations is amended by omitting the word “ Sunday ” (wherever occurring) and substituting the words “ Saturday, Sunday ”.
