I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of
Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make
the following Regulations under the
Dated 19 June 1991.

1.1 Regulation 5 is taken to have commenced on 19 July 1990.
2.1 The Australian Military Regulations are amended as set out in these Regulations.
3.1 Subregulation 75 (2):
Omit “hold the classification of Chaplain Fourth Class or such higher classification”; substitute, “be a chaplain in Division 1 or such higher Division”.
3.2 Subregulation 75 (2):
Omit “Chief of Personnel”; substitute, “Assistant Chief of the General Staff—Personnel”.
4.1 Subregulation 124 (2):
Omit the subregulation, substitute:
Subject to subregulations (2A), (3), (6) and (7), the age for the compulsory retirement of an officer serving in the Royal Australian Army Chaplains’ Department is:
(a) for a Division 4 chaplain who is the head of his or her church or faith, or a Division 5 chaplain—57 years; and
in any other case—55 years.
“(2aa) In
subregulation (2),
5.1 Add at the end:
The Royal Australian Army Chaplains’ Department comprises the following Divisions:
Division 1;
Division 2;
Division 3;
Division 4;
Division 5.”.
6.1 Omit “chaplain, 4th class”, substitute “a chaplain in Division 1”.
7.1 Omit the regulation, substitute:
(1) A chaplain takes precedence in accordance with the following rank:
(a) a chaplain in Division 1—Captain;
(b) a chaplain in Division 2—Major;
(c) a chaplain in Division 3—Lieutenant-Colonel;
(d) a chaplain in Division 4 who is the head of his or her church or faith—Brigadier;
(e) a chaplain in Division 4 who is not the head of his or her church or faith—Colonel;
(f) a chaplain in Division 5—Brigadier.
In subregulation (1),
Despite subregulation (1) a chaplain may not hold any rank other than that of chaplain.”.
8.1 Subregulation 595 (2):
