    1Name of Regulations [see Note 1]

 These Regulations are the Australian Meat and Live‑stock (Quotas) Regulations 2000.

2Commencement [see Note 1]

 These Regulations commence on gazettal.

3Definitions

 In these Regulations:

Act means the Australian Meat and Live‑stock (Quotas) Act 1990.

quota document means a quota document issued under section 6 of the Act in relation to a kind of goods.

quota entitlement means the quantity of a kind of goods that a quota holder has a right to export in the period specified in the holder’s quota document for the goods.

Note   See subsection 3 (1) of the Act for the meaning of goods.

quota holder means a licensee who holds a quota granted under section 6 of the Act in relation to a kind of goods.

Note   Unless the contrary intention appears, expressions in the Act have the same meaning as in Part 2 of the Australian Meat and Live‑stock Industry Act 1997 — see subsection 3 (2) of the Act.

quota year means:

  1. (a)

    for a quota to export high quality beef to the European Union — a financial year commencing on 1 July; and

  2. (b)

    for a quota to export any other kind of goods — a calendar year.

4Quota fee
  1. (1)

    For paragraph 6 (2) (a) of the Act, the fee payable for each kilogram of quota to export high quality beef to the European Union is:

    1. (a)

      for the quota year commencing on 1 July 2011 — 0.2 of a cent; and

    2. (b)

      for a subsequent quota year — 0.26 of a cent.

  2. (1A)

    For paragraph 6 (2) (a) of the Act, the fee payable for each kilogram of quota to export any other kind of goods is:

    1. (a)

      for the quota year commencing on 1 January 2011 — 0.2 of a cent; and

    2. (b)

      for the quota year commencing on 1 January 2012, and each subsequent quota year — 0.26 of a cent.

  3. (2)

    The fee is payable to:

3Amendment of Australian Meat and Live‑stock (Quotas) Regulations 2000

(1)

Schedule 1 amends the Australian Meat and Live‑stock (Quotas) Regulations 2000.

(2)

The amendments made by Schedule 1 apply as follows:

  1. (a)

    in relation to an application for a quota of high quality beef to be exported to the European Union — on and after 1 May 2011;

  2. (b)

    in any other case — on and after the commencement of these Regulations.
