  1. Name of Order [see Note 1]

    This Order is the Australian Meat and Live‑stock Industry (Standards) Order 2005.

  1. Commencement

    This Order commences on 1 July 2005.

  1. Export of live‑stock in accordance with standards

    (1)   The holder of a live‑stock export licence must not export live‑stock except in accordance with the Australian Standards for the Export of Livestock (Version 2, September 2006) which were endorsed by the Primary Industries Ministerial Council on 24 August 2006.

    Note   A copy of the Australian Standards for the Export of Livestock (Version 2, September 2006) is available at on the Department's website.

  1. Obligations under Export Control (Animals) Order 2004 not affected

    Nothing in this Order affects any requirement to comply with the Australian Standards for the Export of Live‑stock that applies to the holder under the Export Control (Animals) Order 2004.

4              Application of amendment

(1)   Subject to subsection (2), the amendment made by item 1 of Schedule 1 applies in relation to exports of live-stock from Australia on or after 25 September 2006.

(2)   In the application, on or after 25 September 2006, of the amendment


made by item 1 of Schedule 1 in relation to cattle from the Northern Territory exported as slaughter or feeder animals, subparagraph (c) (i) of Standard S1.9 of the Australian Standards for the Export of Livestock, as in force on that date, is taken not to be in force until 1 January 2007.
