Part 1—Preliminary

1  Name

This instrument is the Australian Meat and Live-stock Industry (Industry Bodies and Approved Donors) Declaration 2023.

2  Commencement

(1)  Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

3  Authority

This instrument is made under the following provisions:

(a)subsections 60(1), (2), (3), (3A), (3AA) and (3AB) of the Australian Meat and Live-stock Industry Act 1997; and

(b)subsection 61(1) of that Act.

4  Definitions

Note: A number of expressions used in this instrument are defined in section 3 of the Act.

In this instrument:

Act means the Australian Meat and Live-stock Industry Act 1997.

Part 2—Declared bodies and approved donors

5  Declaration of industry bodies

Industry marketing body and industry research body

(1)  For the purposes of subsections 60(1) and (2) of the Act, Meat & Livestock Australia Limited is declared to be:

(a)  the industry marketing body; and

(b)  the industry research body.

Live-stock export marketing body and live-stock export research body

(2)  For the purposes of subsections 60(3) and (3A) of the Act, Australian Livestock Export Corporation Limited is declared to be:

(a)  the live-stock export marketing body; and

(b)  the live-stock export research body.

Meat processor marketing body and meat processor research body

(3)  For the purposes of subsections 60(3AA) and (3AB) of the Act, Australian Meat Processor Corporation Limited is declared to be:

(a)  the meat processor marketing body; and

(b)  the meat processor research body.

6  Approved Donors

For the purposes of subsection 61(1) of the Act, the following bodies are declared to be an approved donor:

(a)  Australian Livestock Export Corporation Limited;

(b)  Australian Meat Processor Corporation Limited;

(c)  MLA Donor Company Limited.
