RULES FOR THE USE OF amc FACILITIES

Pursuant to the General Management Statute the Council hereby:

  1. (a)

    repeals the “Rules for the use of College facilities” made on the ninth day of December 1982; and

(b)

makes the following Rules:

1Citation

These rules may be cited as the Rules for the Use of AMC Facilities.

2Definitions

2.1 In these Rules unless the contrary intention is indicated:

“Facility” means

  1. (a)

    a laboratory, library, recreation centre, student residence, training centre, training vessel, or workshop; and

  2. (b)

    the grounds of the AMC and all improvements, fixtures and vegetation thereon, other than those referred to in paragraph (a).

“Student” means a person who is enrolled in any course of study at the AMC, including a short course.

“User” means a student, member of the staff, or other person present in or making use of an AMC facility.

“Person-in-charge” means a person appointed under Rule 3.

2.2 The facilities referred to in paragraph (b) of the definition of “facility” in Rule 2 are hereby prescribed as facilities for the purposes of the General Management Statute.

3Person-in-Charge

3.1 The Principal or, where the Principal so directs, a Director responsible for the facility, shall appoint a person to be the person-in-charge of that facility for the purposes of these Rules.

3.2 A person appointed under paragraph 3.1 may authorise another person to be person-in-charge during his or her absence from the facility.

4Discipline

Failure to comply with these Rules shall result in the taking of action under the Disciplinary Rules.

5General Rules

The following Rules apply to all AMC facilities.

  1. (a)

    a user shall not act in a manner that in the opinion of the person-in-charge is prejudicial to the safety, comfort, or convenience of others.

  2. (b)

    a user shall comply with any reasonable direction given by the person-in-charge for the purpose of the good management of the facility.

  3. (c)

    a user shall be liable for the cost of repair or replacement resulting from damage to, defacement or loss of, AMC property caused by the user.

  4. (d)

    where a user becomes aware of any damage to, or defacement or loss of property included in a facility she/he shall inform the person-in-charge as soon as possible.

6Library

The Rules set out in Annexure A apply to the users of the Library.

7Survival Centre

The Rules set out in Annexure B apply to the users of the Survival Centre.

8Training Vessels

The Rules set out in Annexure C apply to the users of the training vessels ‘Bluefin’, ‘Wyuna’ and ‘Reviresco’.

9Computing Systems

All staff and students are bound by the Ethics Guidelines and Rules set out in Annexure D.
