AUSTRALIAN MARITIME COLLEGE
RULES FOR NON-AWARD COURSES
Pursuant to the Courses and Awards Statute the Council hereby:
(a)repeals the “Rules for Non-Award Courses” made on the seventeenth day of March 1987; and
(b) makes the following Rules

1 Citation
These Rules may be cited as the Rules for Non-Award Courses.
2 Definition and Application
2.1 “Non-Award Course” means a course conducted by the AMC other than:
(a) a course of the AMC as defined in Rule 2 of the Courses and Awards Rules. and;
(b) a course defined by the AMC from time to time as a “short course”.
Note: Non-award course could include but should not be restricted to courses leading to a certificate of competency or other statutory certificate or licence, ratings courses and such other courses as may be recognised or approved by the Council from time to time.
2.2 “Registrar” means the Registrar of the AMC or nominee.
3 Procedures
Non-award courses shall be conducted within the parameters of statutory requirements or, where applicable, within the parameters determined by the Academic Board or other organisational element of the AMC charged with that responsibility by the Council.
4 Examinations
The rules in relation to examinations applying to courses as defined in Rule 2 of the Courses and Awards Rules shall apply to examinations conducted in respect of non-award courses.
5 Issue of Results
Where applicable, a certification or statement of results or attendance shall be issued by the Registrar upon successful completion of a non-award course recognised or approved by the Council.
