(Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Australian Federal Police Act 1979.

1. Amendment

1.1 The Australian Federal Police Regulations arc amended as set out in these Regulations.

2. Regulation 14 (Appointment on probation)

2.1 Subregulation 14 (2);

Omit the subregulation, substitute:

“(2) On being appointed as a member, a person is on probation for a period of 12 months unless the Commissioner, in the particular case, directs that the period of probation be reduced or waived.”.

2.2 Subregulation 14 (2aa):

Omit the subregulation, substitute:

“(2aa) On being appointed as a staff member, a person is on probation for a period of 6 months unless the Commissioner, in the particular case, directs that the period of probation be reduced or waived.”.

3. Regulation 18a (Directions to act)

3.1 Paragraph 18a (6) (f);

Omit the paragraph, substitute:

“(f) any other factors that are relevant to the performance of those duties.”.

4. Regulation 18b (Directions to act in certain positions for more than 3 months or until the occurrence of an event)

4.1 Subregulation 18b (3):

Omit all the words from and including “Police Gazette” to and including “otherwise shows:”, substitute:

“Police Gazette by a notice that:

(a) sets out the terms of the direction or otherwise shows:”.

4.2 Paragraph 18b (3) (b):

Omit “that” (first occurring).

5. Regulation 26 (Appeal against promotion)

5.1 Paragraph 26 (1) (a):

After “rank”, insert “or level”.

5.2 Subparagraph 26 (2) (b) (i):

After “rank”, insert “or level”.

6. Regulation 33 (Review of non-appellable promotions)

6.1 Subregulation 33 (5):

After “Commissioner must”, insert “, in writing,”.

7. Schedule 7

7.1 Part 1:

After item 16, insert:

“16a. Civil Aviation Authority”.

7.2 Part 2:
