Australian Federal Police Regulations2(Amendment)

I, THE ADMINISTRATOR of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Australian Federal Police Act 1979.

Exemptions in respect of qualifying examinations

 1. Regulation 9 of the Australian Federal Police Regulations is amended‑

  • (a)

    by omitting sub-regulation (4); and

  • (b)

    by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulation:

    • “(6)

      A person who‑

      • (a)

        resigns, or has resigned, from the Australian Federal Police; and

      • (b)

        after having so resigned, has been, or is, appointed to be a non-commissioned officer, being a Constable or Protective Service Constable, in pursuance of section 26 of the Act,

     is exempted from taking a qualifying examination referred to in Schedule 2 if he has previously, while a member, or a member of the Commonwealth Police Force or the Police Force of the Australian Capital Territory, passed an examination that the Examination Committee determines to be the equivalent of that qualifying examination.”.

Schedule 2

 2. Schedule 2 to the Australian Federal Police Regulations is amended by omitting Item 1 and substituting the following item:

 

“1

Sergeant

Protective Service Sergeant

Senior Sergeant

Protective Service Senior Sergeant

Qualifying Examination for the rank of Sergeant

The member must be either a Constable holding the grade of Senior Constable or a Protective Service Constable holding the grade of Protective Service Senior Constable”.
