REGULATIONS UNDER THE AUSTRALIAN BUREAU OF STATISTICS ACT 1975.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Australian Bureau of Statistics Act 1975.

AUSTRALIAN BUREAU OF STATISTICS (ALLOWANCES) REGULATIONS

Citation.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Australian Bureau of Statistics (Allowances) Regulations.

Interpretation.

2. In these Regulations, a reference to a member shall be read as a reference to a member of the Australian Statistics Advisory Council who is not a member of the Parliament of the Commonwealth or of a State or an officer of the Australian Public Service.

Travelling allowance.

3. Where a member (other than the Chairman or the Statistician) is, in the course of performing his duties, necessarily absent overnight from the city or town in which he ordinarily resides or, where he does not normally reside in a city or town, the place at which he normally resides, he is entitled to be paid in respect of the period of absence an allowance equal to the sum of the amounts that would be payable to him under regulation 75a of the Public Service Regulations, as in force from time to time, in respect of that period if—

(a) he were an officer of the Australian Public Service and were included in the Second Division; and

(b) that absence overnight were an absence overnight from his headquarters.
