1961. No. 21.

REGULATIONS UNDER THE BROADCASTING AND TELEVISION ACT 1942-1960.*

I, THE ADMINISTRATOR of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Broadcasting and Television Act 1942-1960.

Amendments of the Australian Broadcasting Commission (Staff) Regulations. 

Travelling allowances.

1. Regulation 76 of the Australian Broadcasting Commission (Staff) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—

“(1.) An officer who is required, in accordance with his duty, to be absent overnight from his head-quarters shall, subject to this regulation, be paid travelling allowance in accordance with Table A or Table B in this sub-regulation, as the case requires.

(b) by omitting sub-regulation (3.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation: —

“(3.) After an officer has resided in the one locality for a period of twenty-one days, the officer shall be paid an allowance equal to the amount expended by the officer on accommodation, sustenance and incidental expenses or, if the Commission is satisfied that the amount so expended is not reasonable having regard to the status of the officer and the purposes for which the officer is performing duty whilst absent from his head-quarters, such amount as the Commission considers reasonable in the circumstances.”.

Meal allowance.

2.—(1.) Regulation 78 of the Australian Broadcasting Commission (Staff) Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the words “eight shillings” and inserting in their stead the words “Nine shillings”.

(2.) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on the fourth day of November, 1960.

Higher duties allowance.

3. Regulation 79 of the Australian Broadcasting Commission (Staff) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (3.) the figures “£764” and “£721” and inserting in their stead the figures”£1,188” and “£1,096”, respectively; and

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (16.) the figures “£1,184” and “£1,141” and inserting in their stead the figures “£2,098” and “£2,006”, respectively.

Allowance for married minors.

4. Regulation 80 of the Australian Broadcasting Commission (Staff) Regulations is amended by omitting the figures “£432” and inserting in their stead the figures “£683”.

Increase in rates of amounts of travelling allowance.

5. Where regulation 76 of the Australian Broadcasting Commission (Staff) Regulations as amended by these Regulations would, if applied to or in relation to the absence of an officer from his head-quarters on or after the fourth day of November, 1960, and before the date on which the making of these Regulations is notified in the Gazette,result in the officer being entitled, in respect of any part of the period of the officer’s absence, to travelling allowance at a rate or amount in excess of those prescribed by regulation 76 of the Australian Broadcasting Commission (Staff) Regulations as in force before that date, the officer shall, in respect of that part of the period of his absence, be paid travelling allowance at the higher rate or amount.
