630 (Quep,1151U116 ANNO VICESIMO ELIZABETHAE SECUNDAE REGINAE No. 45 of 1971 An Act to Amend the Audit Acts Amendment Act 1926-1971 in certain particulars [ASSENTED TO 1st NOVEMBER, 1971] BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. Short title and citation . (1) This Act may be cited as the Audit Acts Amendment Act 1971 (No. 2). (2) The. Audit Acts Amendment Act 1926-1971 is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act. (3) The Principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Audit Acts Amendment Act 1926-1971. 2. Commencement of Act. This Act shall be deemed to have come into operation on and from the fifth day of July, 1971, and shall operate retrospectively accordingly. 3. Amendment of s. 2. Section 2 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) omitting subsections (1) and (2) and inserting in their stead the following subsections:- " (1) Subject to the provisions of this section the salary of the Auditor-General shall be at the rate of $19,495 per annum. (2) From and after the passing of the Audit Acts Amendment Act 1971 (No. 2) the annual salary of the Auditor- General shall be adjusted from time to time by the Governor in Council by Order in Council in accordance with any general variation of the maximum annual salaries payable for the time being to senior officers of the Public Service of the State not
Audit Acts Amendment Act (No. 2 ) 1971, No. 45 631 subject to the Public Service Award ( State ) made pursuant to the provisions of The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Acts 1961 to 1964. (3) The adjustment shall be made by increasing or, as the case may be , decreasing the annual rate for the time being of the salary of the Auditor-General by a sum comparable with the annual amount by which the annual salaries payable to the senior officers specified in subsection (2) of this section are varied and so as to maintain parity generally between the salaries of the Auditor-General and of those officers. (4) Every Order in Council made for the purposes of subsection ( 2) of this section shall- (a) be published in the Gazette; (b) take effect from the date expressed therein as the date of its operation; (c) be laid before the Legislative Assembly within fourteen sitting days after such publication if the Legislative Assembly is in session , but, if not , then within fourteen sitting days after the commencement of its next session. If the Legislative Assembly passes a resolution of which notice has been given at any time within fourteen sitting days after an Order in Council has been laid before it disallowing the Order in Council or part thereof, the Order in Council or part shall thereupon cease to have effect, but without prejudice to the validity of anything done in the meantime or to the making of a further Order in Council."; ( b) renumbering subsection ( 3) as subsection (5).
