An
Act to amend the Audit Act 1901-1953,
and for other purposes.

to 24th September, 1954.]
BE
it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate, and the House of
Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, for the purpose of
appropriating the grant originated in the House of Representatives, as
follows:—
Short
title and citation.
1.—(1.) This Act may be cited as the Audit Act 1954.
(2.) The Audit
Act 1901-1953 is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.
(3.) The Principal Act, as amended by this Act, may
be cited as the Audit Act 1901-1954.
Commencement.
2.—(1.) Section three of this Act shall be deemed to
have come into operation on the first day of July, One thousand nine hundred
and fifty-three.
(2.) The remaining provisions of this Act shall be deemed to have come
into operation on the twenty-fifth day of September, One thousand nine hundred
and fifty-four.
Salary
of Auditor-General.
3. Section four of the Principal Act is amended by omitting the
words “Three thousand three hundred and fifty pounds” and inserting in their
stead the words “Three thousand five hundred pounds”.
Extension
of term of office of Auditor-General.
4. Notwithstanding the provisions of section five a of the Audit Act 1901
