3Authority

This instrument is made under the Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency Act 2013.

4Definitions

Note: A number of expressions used in this instrument are defined in section 3 of the Act, including the following:

(a) Agency;

(b) asbestos safety.

In this instrument:

Act means the Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency Act 2013.

5Functions of the Agency

For the purposes of paragraph 8(1)(g) of the Act, the Agency has the following functions:

  1. (a)

    to raise awareness of asbestos safety, including by developing and promoting materials on asbestos safety;

  2. (b)

    to collect and analyse data required for measuring progress on preventing exposure to asbestos fibres and for informing evidence-based policies and strategies;

  3. (c)

    to promote consistent messages, policies and practices in relation to asbestos safety.
