I, JOHN LANDY, Administrator of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Asbestos‑related Claims (Management of Commonwealth Liabilities) (Consequential and Transitional Provisions) Act 2005.

  1. Name of Regulations

These Regulations are the Asbestos-related Claims (Management of Commonwealth Liabilities) (Consequential and Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2005.

  1. Commencement

These Regulations commence on the commencement of Part 2 of the Asbestos-related Claims (Management of Commonwealth Liabilities) Act 2005.

  1. Interpretation

(1)In these Regulations:

annual report means an annual report in accordance with Schedule 1 to the Commonwealth Authorities and Companies Act 1997 (as modified by subregulation (2)).

Note An annual report in accordance with Schedule 1 to the Commonwealth Authorities and Companies Act 1997 includes financial statements.

asset means property of any kind and includes a chose in action.

Committee means the Stevedoring Industry Finance Committee established by the Stevedoring Industry Finance Committee Act 1977.

(2)For the definition of annual report in subregulation (1), the following references in Schedule 1 to the Commonwealth Authorities and Companies Act 1997 are taken, in relation to anything done after the commencement of these Regulations, to have the expanded meaning shown:

responsible Minister the Minister to whom, under regulation 4, an annual report of the Committee is to be given
  1. Final annual report for Committee

As soon as practicable after the commencement of these Regulations, the Secretary of the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations must prepare an annual report for the Committee for the period that commenced on 1 July 2005 and ends on the commencement of these Regulations and give it to the Minister.

  1. Assets of Committee

On the commencement of these Regulations, all assets of the Committee become the property of the Commonwealth.
