2 Art Unions and Amusements Act 1991 BE IT ENACTED by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows. ˙ Short title 1. This Act may be cited as the Art Unions and Amusements Amendment Act 1991. ˙ Commencement 2.(1) Section 1 and this section commence on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent. (2) The remaining provisions of this Act commence on a day or days to be fixed by proclamation. ˙ Amended Act 3. The Art Unions and Amusements Act 1976 is amended as set out in this Act. ˙ Amendment of s. 7 (Interpretation) 4.(1) Section 7(1) (definition “major art union” and “minor art union’’)— omit. (2) Section 7(1)— insert in the appropriate alphabetical position, determined on a letter-by-letter basis— ‘ “major art union” means— (a) in the case of an art union other than bingo—an art union the gross proceeds of which exceed $5 000 or, if a higher amount is prescribed, that amount; (b) in the case of an art union being bingo—an art union the gross proceeds of which exceed $1 000 or, if a higher amount is prescribed, that amount;

3 Art Unions and Amusements Act 1991 ‘ “minor art union” means— (a) in the case of an art union other than bingo or lucky envelopes—an art union the gross proceeds of which do not exceed $5 000 or, if a higher amount is prescribed, that amount; (b) in the case of an art union being bingo—an art union the gross proceeds of which do not exceed $1 000 or, if a higher amount is prescribed, that amount; (c) in the case of an art union being lucky envelopes—an art union the gross proceeds of which do not exceed $500 or, if a higher amount is prescribed, that amount; ’. ˙ Omission of s. 34 (Amendment of Schedule by Order in Council) 5. Section 34— omit. ˙ Amendment of First Schedule 6.(1) First Schedule, condition 17 of the Conditions to be Observed in the Conduct of Major Art Unions that are Bingo— omit ‘$200’, insert ‘$300 or, if a higher amount is prescribed, that amount,’. (2) First Schedule, condition 17 of those conditions— omit ‘$1 000’ insert ‘$1 500 or, if a higher amount is prescribed, that amount’. ˙ Amendment of First Schedule 7.(1) First Schedule, condition 4 of the Conditions to be Observed in the Conduct of Minor Art Unions that are Bingo— omit ‘$500’, insert ‘$1 000 or, if a higher amount is prescribed, that amount’. (2) First Schedule, condition 13 of those conditions— omit ‘$100’, insert ‘$200 or, if a higher amount is prescribed, that
