B E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows : - 1. This Act may be cited as "The Art Union Short title Regulation Acts Amendment Act of 1943," and shall be and t t·· read as one with *" The Art Union Regulation Acts, cons ruc Ion. 1930 to 1941," herein referred to as the Principal Act. The Principal Act and this Act may collectively be ~ nective cited as " The Art Union Regulation Acts, 1930 to 1943." title. Amendments of the Principal Act. 2. The following definition is added to section two Amendment of the Principal Act, namely :_ of s. 2. " " Under Secretary"-The Under Secretary, Under Department of Justice: The term includes Secretary. any person for the time being discharging, the duties of that office." 3. Section five of the Principal Act is amended as Amendment follows :_ of s. 5. (a) Subsection one thereof is amended by the addition thereto of the following proviso, namely : - "Provided further that bonds and/or war savings certificates in'respect of moneys lent to the Common- wealth of Australia in aid of the prosecution of the War may be disposed of by lottery (including an art union raffie, guessing competition, or drawing) permitted under this Act during the period from and including the date of the passing of t" The Art Union RegUlation Acts Amendment Act of 1943" to and including the day upon * 21 G. 5 No. 11 and amending Acts. (b) Subsection three thereof is amended by inserting after the word" may" where it first appears in the said subsection the words" by himself or by any officer of the Department of Justice or by any other person authorised by him in that behalf" and by deleting the words "which he may deem necessary or desirable, either generally or in any particular case" from the first paragraph of the said subsection and inserting in lieu thereof the words "which he or such officer or person may deem necessary or desirable either generally or in any particular case." The second paragraph of the said subsection three is amended by inserting after the word "Minister" the words" or such officer or person." (c) Subsection four of the said section is amended by inserting after the word "Minister" the words " or such officer or person." (d) Subsection five thereof is amended by deleting the words " by him" where they appear therein after the words " permit granted." o A i m8e. 1n7d. ment as fo 4 llo . wSse: ct-ion seventeen of the Principal Act is amended (a) The third paragraph of subsection one thereof is amended by inserting after the word "may" where it first appears in the said paragraph the words "by himself or by any officer of the Department of Justice or by any other person authorised by him in that behalf" and by deleting the words "which he may deem necessary or desirable, either generally or in any par- ticular case" from the said paragraph and inserting in lieu thereof the words "which he or such officer or person may deem necessary or desirable, either generally or in any particular case." The fifth paragraph of the said subsection one is amended by inserting after the word "Minister" the words" or such officer or person."

Art Union Reglda,tion, E'tc., Act. 91 (b) Subsection two thereof is amended by inserting after the word " Minister" wherever that word appears therein the words " or such officpr or person." (c) Subsection three thereof is amended by deleting the words" by him" where they appear therein after the words " permit granted." 5. In the first paragraph of section nineteen of the Amendment Principal Act the words "by him" are deleted; also of s. 19. the words "by the Minister" are deleted. 6. The following section, numbered 20A, is inserted ~ ew s. 20.&. after section twenty of the Principal Act, namely:- mserted. "[20A.] Without limit to the generality of the Informa.tion power of the Minister to issue permits under this Act and returns. subject to conditions and stipulations deemed by him necessary or desirable, the Minister or any officer of the Department of Justice or any other person authorised to issue permits may in any such permit stipulate that the permittee shall furnish in writing all such information and/or all such returns at such time or times and to such person or persons as may be prescribed in the said permit or in the conditions or stipulations thereof or as the Minister or the Under Secretary may require by letter addressed to the permittee at his address set out in the application for a permit. All such information and every such return shall be verified by the statutory declaration of the permittee. A certificate signed by the Under Secretary or by the person to whom such information and/or returns as aforesaid is or are required by the said permit or by the conditions or stipulations thereof to be furnished stating that any such information and/or return has not been so furnished shall be conclusive evidence thereof."
