An Act to sanction the construction of works of Water Supply for the town of Armidale, county of Sandon, and to apply the pro­ visions of the Country Towns Water and Sewerage Act of 18S0, and any Act amend­ ing the same to the said works. [5th June, 1894.]

WH E R E A S , p u r s u a n t W o r k , namely , " W o r k s of W a t e r Supply for t h e town of Armida le ,
to and in accordance wi th t h e provisions
of t he Pub l i c W o r k s A c t of 1888, a cer tain proposed P u b l i c

coun ty of Sandon ," was, on t h e twen ty -n in th day of March , one thousand e igh t h u n d r e d and n ine ty- two, duly submi t t ed and explained by t h e Secre tary for Publ ic W o r k s in t h e Legislat ive Assembly, and t h e said work was the reupon referred, on the mot ion of t he said Secretary, to t he Pa r l i amen ta ry S tand ing Commi t t ee on Publ ic W o r k s for thei r repor t thereon, which Commit tee reported to the said Assembly t h e result of the i r inquir ies : A n d whereas after t he receipt of t he said repor t , t h a t is to say on t h e e igh teen th day of April , in t h e year one thousand eight h u n d r e d and ninety-four, the said Assembly by resolut ion declared t h a t it was expedient t h a t t h e said W o r k should

be carried out, wh ich resolut ion was notified in t he Gazette on t h e
t w e n t i e t h day of Apr i l in t h e year las t -ment ioned : Be i t therefore

enacted by t h e Queen ' s Mos t Exce l l en t Majes ty , by and wi th t h e advice a n d consent of the Legislat ive Council and Legislat ive Assembly of New South W a l e s in P a r l i a m e n t assembled, and by the au thor i ty of t he same, as follows :—

1. The car ry ing out of t h e said work more par t i cu la r ly described

in t he Schedule to this A c t is hereby sanct ioned; and the Secretary for Pub l i c W o r k s , or t h e Member of t he Execu t ive Council for t h e t i m e being performing the dut ies of t he said Secretary is hereby author ised to u n d e r t a k e and carry out t he said work subject to t he provisions of th i s Act , and for tha t purpose shal l be and shal l have the powers and duties of a Cons t ruc t ing A u t h o r i t y wi th in t he mean ing of t he Pub l i c

W o r k s and counters igned by the Engincer- in-Chief for H a r b o u r s and
Rivers , and deposited in t he office of t he said Secretary.

2.    The cost of ca r ry ing ou t t he work he reby sanctioned, es t imated

a t for ty- three thousand five hund red pounds , shall be defrayed from

such Loan Votes as are now or m a y hereafter be appl icable the re to .

3. A n y work sanct ioned by and comple ted unde r t he au tho r i t y

of th is A c t shall , for t he purposes of P a r t V of t h e Count ry Towns W a t e r and Sewerage A c t of 1880 and of any enac tmen t a m e n d i n g t h e same, be deemed to be works author ised and comple ted by the Governor w i th in the m e a n i n g of section one hundred and twenty- four of t he said Act .

4. This A c t may be cited as the " Armida le W a t e r Supp ly
W o r k s Act , 1 8 9 1 , " and shall be cons t rued as one wi th t h e Coun t ry

SCHEDULE.

Water Supply for the town of Armidale, county of Sandon, parishes of Armidale,

Duval, and Exmouth.

The proposed works .ire shown by red lines on the plan referred to in section one of

this Act. They consist of :—

1. A concrete dam, three hundred 1'ect in length and twenty-eight feet in height,

across the Duval Creek, to form a storage reservoir.

2. A concrete service reservoir, about sixty-six feet in diameter and fifteen feet

deep.

3. About nine and a half miles of nine-inch wrought-irou pipes, from the storage

reservoir to the service reservoir.

•k About sixty-two chains of six-inch cast-iron pipes, from the service reservoir to

the town.

5. A high level tank on Gaol J [ill, fifteen feet in diameter and ten feet deep.

G. About fourteen and a quarter miles of six-inch, four-inch, and three-inch

reticulation pipes, with hydrants, &c.
