AREA HEALTH SERVICES ACT 1986—ORDER

NEW SOUTH WALES

I, Rear Admiral PETER ROSS SINCLAIR, A.C., Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of sections 6 (a), 8 (1) (a) and (b) and 9 (1) of the Area Health Services Act 1986, on the recommendation of the Minister for Health under section 9 (2) of that Act, do, by this my Order, with effect on and from 1 August 1995:

(a) amalgamate the area health services specified in Column 1 of Schedule A to this Order to constitute the area health service specified in Column 2 of that Schedule; and

(b) amend Schedule 2 of that Act:

(i) by omitting the following names:

Eastern Sydney Area Health Service

Southern Sydney Area Health Service

(ii) by inserting, in alphabetical order, the following name:

South Eastern Sydney Area Health Service

(c) amend Schedule 3 of that Act:

(i)  by omitting the following names, and the description of areas appearing opposite those names:

Central Sydney Area Health Service Eastern Sydney Area Health Service Southern Sydney Area Health Service

(ii) by inserting, in alphabetical order, the names and the description of areas appearing opposite those names, specified in Schedule B to this Order.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

Section 9 (2) of the Area Health Services Act 1986 provides that the Minister for Health may, if the Minister considers it is in the public interest, recommend to the Governor that an order be made to amalgamate 2 or more area health services.

This Order amalgamates 2 area health services-the Eastern Sydney Area Health

Service and the Southern Sydney Area Health Service—into the South Eastern Sydney amalgamation.
