To amend the Architects Ordinance 1959-1973.

ARCHITECTS ORDINANCE 1974
1 . (1) This Ordinance may be cited as the Architects Ordinance
1974.*
(2) The Architects Ordinance 1959-1973,f is in this Ordinance
referred to as the Principal Ordinance.
(3) The Principal Ordinance, as amended by this Ordinance, may
| be cited as the Architects Ordinance | 1959-1974. |
2 . Section 3 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting
the words—
| and N o . 5, 1973. |
" Part IV.—The Conduct of Architectural Practice
(Sections 28-29) . "
and substituting the words—
" Part IV—The Conduct of Architectural Practice
(Sections 28-30)".
3. (1) Section 15 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting from sub-section (3) the words " Six dollars and thirty cents " and substituting the words " Ten dollars ".
(2) The amendment made by sub-section (1) applies to and in
relation to certificates of registration issued on or after 1 March 1974.

4. After section 18 of the Principal Ordinance the following section is inserted:—
" 1 8 A . (1 ) The Registrar shall, upon payment of a fee of Ten dollars, issue to a person whose name appears in the Register a practising certificate.
" (2 ) A practising certificate takes effect on the date on which the certificate is expressed to take effect.
" (3 ) A practising certificate shall be expressed to take effect—
(a) where the applicant for the certificate is the holder of a current practising certificate—on the first day of March next following the date on which application for issue of the certificate is made; and (b) in any other case—on the date on which the certificate is issued.
" (4 ) A practising certificate expires on the first day of March next following the date on which the certificate takes effect.
" (5 ) A practising certificate expires if the registration of the holder of the certificate is cancelled or suspended. ".
5. Section 19 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by inserting after the words " application for registration " the words " , or for a practising certificate,".
6. Sub-section (1) of section 24 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by inserting after the words " certificate of registration " the words " and his practising certificate (if any) ".
7. Section 28 of the Principal Ordinance is amended by omitting
the words " or that he carries on the practice of architecture (otherthan landscape architecture, naval architecture or golf course
architecture) ". 8 . Section 29 is amended by adding at the end thereof the words " who is the holder of a current practising certificate ".
9. After section 29 of the Principal Ordinance the following section is inserted:—
" 3 0 . A person shall not carry on the practice of architecture (other than landscape architecture, naval architecture or golf course architecture) in the Territory on his own account or in partnership with another person unless he holds a current practising certificate.
Penalty: Two hundred dollars. ".
