AN ACT

to authorise the issue and expenditure of public moneys of the Territory to provide relief to and reconstruct the Katherine and Douglas Daly regions affected by flooding

E it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the Northern Territory  of Australia, with the assent as provided by the Northern Territory (Self-Government) Act 1978 of the Commonwealth, as follows:

1. SHORT TITLE

   This Act may be cited as the Appropriation (Flood Relief) Act 1998.

2. authorisation and allocation

   (1)      The amount necessary for the purpose of meeting the recurrent and capital costs of providing relief to and reconstructing the Katherine and Douglas Daly regions affected by flooding in respect of which a state of disaster was declared under the Disasters Act on 28 January 1998 is to be provided from the public moneys of the Territory.

   (2)      The Allocation to the Treasurer's Advance is increased by the amount authorised under subsection (1).
